A Day of Reverence

Boy Scout Troop 24 & Cub Scout Pack 24 celebrated Scout Sunday at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish with Father Michael Duffy and the parish congregation. Father Duffy carried out the mass and the scouts fully participated in the service - from the procession, altar serving and lecturing to ushering the collection and presenting the gifts. The Boy Scouts of America designates the Sunday that falls before February 8 (Scouting Anniversary Day) as Scout Sunday, which is the primary date to recognize the contributions of our scouts in a religious ceremony. Father Duffy said a beautiful homily where he discussed what it means to be reverent. A Scout is reverent toward God. He is faithful in his religious duties and he respects the beliefs of others. The boys did an excellent job at mass, expressing their faith and representing the Boy Scouts of America.
